    TOEFL

    Trip to Colorado

In the end of April, I went to a trip to see my friend in Colorado.
As I arrived on her birthday, we celebrated her birthday at a restaurant on Peal Street.
Peal Street is one of hot spots in Boulder which has many shops and restaurants.

On the next day, I looked around the University of Colorado while my friend was working.
I liked beautiful buildings on campus and great sceneries surrounded mountains. After
looking around the campus, we went to Denver for sightseeing. We stopped by
Peet's Coffee(http://www.peets.com/) in downtown. I loved its interior design; the dark
wooden shelves matched with coffee beans and coffee machines. In the evening, I joined
her birthday gathering at her friend's house. The picture of spectacular twilight view was
    taken after this party.

Since Farmer's Market is open every Saturday, we had breakfast there on Saturday morning.
After enjoying walking and eating at the market, we went to Idaho Springs with her friends.
Idaho springs locate one and half hours' drive from Boulder.
On the way back to home, we stopped a huge shoppig mall in Denver; it was "Cherry Creek
Shopping Center" if I remember correctly. For dinner, we had Ethiopian dishes after coming
    back.

On Sunday, we walked around near her house and had a branch and tea at "Dushanbe Teahouse."
While we were waiting in the waiting list, her friend drove and showed a beautiful mountain stream.
It was amazing that we could be in such wonderful nature only in 15 minutes. We enjyed tea and then
went to the another hot spot, Twenty Ninth Street. We watched a movie, "Sunshine Cleaning"
in the shopping mall. Subsequently, we went to "Whole Foods" next to the mall and bought some
fresh food for cooking dinner together.

Monday is the last day for my stay. We had breakfast at Peet's Coffee in 29th street mall
and enjoyed shopping. I bought my first "Vera Bradley" there! Before noon, we headed
    for the Denver airport.

I really thank my friend who planned many fun events during my stay. It was a lot of fun to have
talked until late at night including our future goals.

    The University of Colorado

    Indian Springs
    Geo-Thermal Cave Baths

    Boulder

    Wives gathering

As one of my friends, Tomoko, will go back to Japan in this month, my friend, Rita, planned
a farewell party for her. Thank to Rita for inviting me so that I could see Tomoko before
she leave. I was really happy to see them since it was last summer (July 2008) that I met them
    at previous time.

It is true that my life had totally changed after I started my current RA. I used to have time
to enjoy with my friends and shared our hobbies, but now I spend (and secure) most of
time for studying. However, I never felt alone because I hardly believed we hadn't seen
each other for such long time whenever we met. I really appreciate my great friends and
look forward to seeing them next time!

    Lilac Festival and Birthday Party

Lilac Festival started at Highland Park this weekend!
Lilac flowers are fully blooming and smell so gorgeous~!!

The first day, last Friday, Yoichi and I went there after school to see lilac flowers and we enjoyed
our favorite snacks. Rock band, MC Lars, sang on the stage in the park and many audiences
were excited with their music while it was over 8pm!

Snacks that we had on that day:
    1) Artichoke French -- French (plate name in the menu)
    2) McCafe -- Frappe
    3) Chocolate fudge -- looking like small icecream with a cone.

We still have more favorites, like Kettle Corn's popcorn, so we will come back to the park soon.

On Saturday, I had a birthday gathering for my friend.
One of her birthday wishes was "having a pretty picnic" so we had a picnic in Highland Park.
The birthday girl and her boyfriend had prepared fresh fruits and cheese & Olives at the farmer's
market in the early morning. Colorful fruits on the picnic table were grapes, blackberries, strawberries,
and apricots. Her friend who is a Mexican girl made salsa and guacamole for chips and they tasted
so nice, too!! She told me that keeping avocado seeds in guacamole prevents its green color
    (she added "theoretically").

I learned a new game, Bocce Ball. It is a kind of outdoor sport to compete how close we could
throw our balls to one target small ball. As Highland Park is located on the hill, slope made it
difficult to read ball's movement. Apparently, it made this game more fun.

After the picnic, her boyfriend served strawberry dacaries with fresh strawberries for us at his house.
For a while, we enjoyed talking, and in the middle of drink he brought a birthday cake from the kitchen.
To be mentioned, the cake had tricky candles that flashed like fireworks. We sang the birthday song
and then she blew the candles, and it seemed she was done this ceremony, however,  because of fire
powder, fire came back from inside of candles though she blew candles again and again. (Even though
2 girls blew the candles, still couldn't finished this ceremony...)

I really thank my friends for sharing such fun time and I realized again that I am very happy.
